Where do Nurse Midwives deliver babies? Pat and Colleen deliver babies
at St John Westshore Hospital. Although some Nurse Midwives in other
states deliver at freestanding Birth Centers and do home births, Ohio laws
prevent this from being a viable option for us now, although we do see
these options as wonderful options for some women.
Using a Nurse Midwife may help
increase your chance of a successful vaginal birth. Nationally the
cesarean birth rate has climbed to over 30%. We think this rate is too
high. For over 10 years Pat's Cesarean rate has remained under 10% and
she has excellent baby outcomes.
Because of our (Nurse Midwives) low c-section rates and low preterm birth
rates, the World Health Organization recommends Nurse Midwives be utilized
more and more.
